Music - COPYRIGHT FREE!!!

Just a reminder to students that music in your films MUST be original work or copyright free.

The exam specification states that: "All material should be original", All candidates are strongly encouraged to explore the variety of possibilities of sound design and not just to use music!

So you cannot use music that was used in a film or by a well known artists as these sounds are protected by copyright law.

EITHER - create (or get a musically-skilled friend to create) an original piece of music for the film specifically or

find a free download site.

A site with free downloads on http://www.soundjay.com/free-music.html could be useful (although it is fairly limited the choice) or http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/.

Both sites allow free downloads of music, but PLEASE do credit them in your film  closing credits and on your blog.

Ancillary Tasks - Film poster and film review

PPT from lesson at the bottom of this post.

In addition to your 5 minute short film, you are required to create the following:

  • A film poster
  • a page from a film magazine reviewing your film

These should be done individually and require research into conventions and analysis of similar existing products, planning/drafts as well as a finished product.

There should be clear link between your film and ancillary tasks.

Each production is worth 10 marks of your total project, and is also credited in the research and planning marks too,

DON'T LEAVE IT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE!

EG from last year.

Scroll through this blog to see the progress of ideas and research for the ancillary tasks. http://charliechalkleya2media.blogspot.co.uk/2013_03_01_archive.html
